Comlock Security Group began in 1961 as Bill's Lock & Safe, a one-man locksmith operation by Bill Maris in La Habra. As the business grew, Bill expanded to a larger location and partnered with his son Wayne. By 1966, they moved to Whittier and opened a second location in Fullerton by 1968, reflecting their solid reputation for reliable security services. A third shop opened in Brea in 1976, followed by a fourth in Anaheim.

The 1980s brought changes in the industry, prompting Comlock to adapt to the rising demand for advanced security systems. In 1991, they launched Spectrum Security Systems to integrate electronics into locksmithing, leading to a name change to Bill's Commercial Lock & Security Service, which eventually became Comlock Security Group, Inc.

To address the challenge of finding skilled technicians, they established the School of Security Technology, training hundreds in locksmithing. In pursuit of growth, Comlock acquired Elite Security and relocated corporate offices to Orange, with service centers in Orange and Fullerton. They now cover a wide area from Ventura to San Diego and have developed a network of security partners across the western U.S.
